About Edwin J. Walker, Jr. (Jack)
With more than thirty years experience in private practice in Durham, Jack Walker has helped thousands of North Carolinians with estate planning, will, trust administration, financial planning, and probate. As a Board Certified Specialist in Estate Planning and Probate Law, Jack's knowledge and experience are broad. His practice includes estate planning, trust and estate administration, tax planning, business succession planning, insurance planning, and representation of non-profit organizations. Jack is an accomplished musician, playing trumpet throughout the Triangle Area in both large and small ensembles and as a soloist. Given his aptitude for music, it is no wonder that his work reflects both attention to detail and creativity. Jack's thoughtful and patient work to educate his clients is music to their ears.

Experience
Jack Walker was born in Concord, North Carolina. He has been engaged in the private practice of law since 1969. He has practiced in Durham his entire career and was the first attorney in Durham to be designated a Board Certified Specialist in Estate Planning and Probate Law. He was a founding partner of Walker, Lambe, Rhudy & Costley, P.L.L.C. In addition to his law practice, Jack has served as a member of the American Bar Association--Member of the Section on Taxation, North Carolina Bar Association, Durham County Bar Association, Durham-Orange Estate Planning Council, United Way (A Director 1987 - 1989), Board of Trustees of the Durham County Hospital Corporation (1977 - 1983; Chairman 1979 - 1983), Foundation for Better Health of Durham (now Durham Health Partners) -- Past Chairman, Board of Advisors of the Duke Heart Center, Durham Academy -- Past President of Board of Trustees, The Triangle Community Foundation--General Counsel, North Durham Rotary Club -- Past President, Duke University Estate Planning Council, Westminster Presbyterian Church Elder, Trumpeter/Cornetist Chapel Hill Philharmonia; Durham Symphony; Triangle Brass Band, and the Davidson College Board of Visitors. Jack has lead numerous educational seminars on estate planning and related topics, both for lawyers and financial professionals and for community organizations.

Education
Mr. Walker was a Charles A. Dana Scholar at Davidson College, from which he received an A.B. degree in 1966, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha (social) and Phi Mu Alpha (music) fraternities. He received his law degree in 1969 from the University of North Carolina School of Law, where he was a member of Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity. He was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 1969 and was later admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court.

Personal
Jack is married to Carol Walker, and has an adult daughter and son. He is an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, and enjoys music, exercise, and his dog Opus.
